  1. Mercado De San Miguel
  2. Parque Del Retiro
  3. Plaza Mayor
  4. La Gran Via
  5. La Chueca District

I like to cut to the chase and give you the top 5 in the beginning of my blog. Let me go into a little more detail explaining each one.   Mercado De San Miguel is a food market that welcomes more than 10 million visitors each year. You will not be hungry here! There is something for everyone in this market place and lots of great people watching! If you want a little more in depth information about this amazing place click here to be transported https://mercadodesanmiguel.es/en/.

Parque Del Retiro is my all time favorite park; I love to come here and wind down after a long busy day full of traveling within Madrid. https://www.esmadrid.com/en/tourist-information/estanque-grande-de-el-retiro?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F There is lots to do and see inside this park; from taking a little paddle boat ride for 6 Euros, to a really neat crystal palace https://www.esmadrid.com/en/tourist-information/palacio-de-cristal

Plaza Mayor is a great; this is one of the main famous landmarks in Madrid! An interesting fact about this spot is that there are 9 entrances and exits into the Plaza Mayor and the oldest restaurant in Madrid is also at La Plaza Mayor; named “Sobrino el Botin”. Plaza Mayor is one of the largest public squares in Europe with lots of little cafes to sit and people watch; this is also a great central meeting spot.  https://www.spain.info/en/places-of-interest/plaza-mayor-madrid/.

Next off in my list is La Gran Via; this is where all the hustle and bustle is on Madrid’s most famous street.  This street is full of shops, restaurants, and the most nightlife; Of course this street also has the 2nd largest shop in the world which is Primark!

Last but not least is the Chueca District; with vibrant bars, restaurants and shops.  One of my favorite food markets is in this area and that is Mercado de San Anton. This market is similar to Mercado de San Miguel but on a much smaller more intimate scale. This area is fun, trendy, and stylish.
