1. Explore the Gothic Quarter

Step back in time as you wander through the labyrinthine streets of the Gothic Quarter. This historic neighborhood is the heart of Barcelona, where ancient Roman and medieval architecture coexist with modern boutiques and cozy cafes. Highlights include the Barcelona Cathedral, Plaça Reial, and the charming, narrow alleys filled with secrets waiting to be discovered.

No trip to Barcelona is complete without visiting Park Güell, one of Antoni Gaudí’s most colorful creations. This whimsical park offers breathtaking views of the city and is adorned with vibrant mosaics, serpentine benches, and playful sculptures. Summer is the perfect time to stroll through the park’s gardens and enjoy a picnic under the warm Spanish sun.

Also known as La Pedrera, Casa Milà is another Gaudí masterpiece that showcases his innovative and imaginative architectural style. The undulating stone façade and wrought-iron balconies are a sight to behold, and the rooftop terrace provides a unique perspective of the city. Don’t miss the evening light shows that add a magical touch to this already spectacular building.

La Sagrada Família is perhaps Gaudí’s most famous work and a symbol of Barcelona. This awe-inspiring basilica, with its intricate facades and towering spires, is still under construction after more than a century. Top 5 Things To Do and See In Madrid Spain https://www.aroundtheworldtop5.com/top-5-things-to-do-and-see-in-madrid-spain/ Mon, 05 Jul 2021 15:41:41 +0000 https://demo.creativethemes.com/blocksy/web-agency/?p=441 Madrid was one of the first cities I had been to that exposed me to travel outside of my home town. So I like to say Madrid has a special place in my heart. This city has so much history, culture, and beauty one would never be bored exploring this city! I would like to give you a special top 5 things to do and see in Madrid; that I actually do EVERY TIME I come to this city no matter how many times I’ve been and have done the same thing. It never gets boring and each time I come to Madrid and visit these spots I get a different experience. Check out a quick peak of these top 5 things to do in Madrid! Click Here to Watch our suggestions

  1. Mercado De San Miguel
  2. Parque Del Retiro
  3. Plaza Mayor
  4. La Gran Via
  5. La Chueca District

I like to cut to the chase and give you the top 5 in the beginning of my blog. Let me go into a little more detail explaining each one.   Mercado De San Miguel is a food market that welcomes more than 10 million visitors each year. You will not be hungry here! There is something for everyone in this market place and lots of great people watching! If you want a little more in depth information about this amazing place click here to be transported https://mercadodesanmiguel.es/en/.

Parque Del Retiro is my all time favorite park; I love to come here and wind down after a long busy day full of traveling within Madrid. https://www.esmadrid.com/en/tourist-information/estanque-grande-de-el-retiro?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F There is lots to do and see inside this park; from taking a little paddle boat ride for 6 Euros, to a really neat crystal palace https://www.esmadrid.com/en/tourist-information/palacio-de-cristal

Plaza Mayor is a great; this is one of the main famous landmarks in Madrid! An interesting fact about this spot is that there are 9 entrances and exits into the Plaza Mayor and the oldest restaurant in Madrid is also at La Plaza Mayor; named “Sobrino el Botin”. Plaza Mayor is one of the largest public squares in Europe with lots of little cafes to sit and people watch; this is also a great central meeting spot.  https://www.spain.info/en/places-of-interest/plaza-mayor-madrid/.

Next off in my list is La Gran Via; this is where all the hustle and bustle is on Madrid’s most famous street.  This street is full of shops, restaurants, and the most nightlife; Of course this street also has the 2nd largest shop in the world which is Primark!

Last but not least is the Chueca District; with vibrant bars, restaurants and shops.  One of my favorite food markets is in this area and that is Mercado de San Anton. This market is similar to Mercado de San Miguel but on a much smaller more intimate scale. This area is fun, trendy, and stylish.
